Every claim on this site reduces to one piece of arithmetic: 21 million coins, 8.2 billion people. Here is that arithmetic done properly.
| Fact | Number |
|---|---|
| Hard cap, forever | 21,000,000 BTC |
| Mined so far | ~20,074,000 BTC (95.6% of the cap) |
| The 20 millionth coin was mined | 9 March 2026 |
| New supply per day | ~450 BTC (3.125 per block) |
| Next halving | 2028, cutting issuance to ~225 BTC/day |
| Final coin expected | ~2140 |
| Estimated lost forever | 2.3 - 3.7 million BTC |
Dollar wealth grows with the money supply; there will be more millionaires next year than this year (a million were added in 2025 alone). Bitcoin denominated wealth cannot inflate that way - the clubs get harder to join, never easier: supply growth is trending to zero while losses quietly shrink the float. That asymmetry is the entire case for measuring wealth in coins rather than currency, and it is why the thresholds for "rich" are so much smaller than intuition suggests.

Your fair share is about 245,000 sats.
