How to read it without fooling yourself

The honest caveatAll distribution figures count addresses, not people. One person can control many addresses, and one exchange cold wallet can pool coins belonging to millions of customers - the single largest bitcoin address is an exchange wallet holding 248,598 BTC. Address percentiles are the most precise public measure that exists, but treat them as a well-lit approximation of human wealth, not a census.

Three things worth knowing before quoting "the top 1% own 90%" at a dinner party:

Even with all that, the shape of the curve is real: bitcoin wealth is intensely concentrated at the top and intensely thin at the bottom, with fewer than a million addresses holding a whole coin.

Dollar bands

The same data cut by value at the snapshot price (~$78,000): 123,508 addresses hold $1 million or more; 15,584 hold $10 million or more; 3.7 million addresses hold at least $10,000. For comparison, the world has 57.5 million dollar millionaires (UBS, 2026).
